Michael York's Advice On SPEED!
As many of you may recall, Inner Circle member and friend, Michael York (http://www.michaelyork.com), recently achieved UNCOMMON success using our online press strategies video tutorial (found at http://www.scend.net/press).
Michael emailed me the other day with some advice he wanted to share with all of you. I thought I would reprint it here:
Travis & Jimmy Vee,
One of the things that matters most in this marketplace is SPEED! Taking action...SWIFTLY, before opportunity is past or we talk ourselves out of a good idea.
At your urging, I took action on something I'd been thinking about or "intending to do" for a long time. It worked...dramatically! I'll do it again and improve the process, which I believe will improve the results.
It has also convinced me of the power of one simple idea that is EASY TO DO. Problem is, it's easier NOT TO DO, and that's what most individuals choose. Good intentions, poor execution.
The message of the day is YOUR STRATEGY WORKS...
and it can be replicated by anyone who is committed enough to take a few simple steps.
BIG Thanks,
Michael
Well, I'm not sure if you can find better advice than that (not to mention we're flattered).
But I thought Michael made a very important point here...one that can not be made enough: SWIFT ACTION.
Why is it that so many small business owners and solo sales pros sit on their hands THINKING about good ideas - but so few actually move swiftly and rapidly and take action. You know, that fast beat the slow. Period.
Ask yourself, "How many good ideas have I read on this web site alone that I could have done, would have liked to have done, but just didn't do?"
Maybe you didn't take action because you were busy or uncertain or didn't have the money.
I completely understand. I was once the exact same way. As Michael says, "It's easier to do nothing." And it is. And it's less frightening and less expensive - on the surface.
But in the long run, you actually suffer far more by inaction than you would have by taking action. Sure, you'll invest in a few boogers and waste a few weekends along the way. Not every opportunity is right. Not every idea works.
But many do. And a few work BIG!
My advice is to take action - small steps - testing steps. Don't blow your budget on one cooky idea without finding out if it works. But don't pass on the cooky idea because you're not sure if it will work. Try it, taste it, measure it.
If it bombs, can it. If it works, reinvest the profits and run a bigger test. It really is simple.
And if you're going to invest your hard-earned money in information (like our online press strategy), be sure to only invest with people you trust and people who stand behind their products - guaranteeing results.
Let me make a small example out of the press strategy video tutorial (http://www.scend.net/press). You could hire a PR firm to write some press releases and distribute them for you. It would cost you between $1,000 and $10,000. And that may be perfect for your business. But what if they don't deliver? What happens to your money?
Instead, a wiser move would be to invest $39 to learn the strategies yourself (in about 30 minutes). Then, spend between $80 and $200 to run an intial test. That's not a HUGE investment, wouldn't you agree?
If it works, reinvest. If you find it bombed, guess what? Send us an email asking for your $39 back. In the end you'll only be out the $80 in distribution fees. But that's a whole lot less than $1000 - $10,000.
One final note, Michael has contacted me with a correction and an update:
1. Correction - I said his book had been downloaded more times in 1 day than in the previous month. He pointed out that it was actually more time in 48 hours than in the past 60 days.
2. Update - Michael scored an additional interview on WGST in Atlanta (that's on top of his Denver interview and his Cleveland newspaper interview). Then, leveraging that initial press exposure, he contacted radio stations in a few other cities. Now he has a likely interview on the line with another radio station in Detroit.
Action begets action. Always does friends.
What are you going to do?
