Something Cool To Do On The Phone - It's FREE!
OK. The picture does not represent what I'm talking about - but I thought it might get your attention!
Actually, this idea was inspired by Jeffrey Gitomer in "The Little Red Book of Selling" and was put into play by a fellow named Tony Furnari who owns the Business Card Exchange in Orlando.
Here's the concept:
Instead of you recording your traditional, boring, same is lame voice mail greeting, ask one of your best customers to leave the greeting for you - and say how great you are.
Of course their voice will be more believable than yours - and it will be more entertaining to listen to for your callers.
We have been long time fans of leaving fun and exciting greetings - but we've never used this one.
When I called Tony the other day and heard this, I just had to tell you about it.
The message was recorded by Don Kirkendahl of The Affordable One Health Insurance - another friend of ours. He says something along the lines of:
"Hi, this is Don Kirkendahl, the Insurance Man. Tony's not in right now because he's out finding new places to display my business card. You see, Tony and the Business Card Exchange place indoor billboards in high-traffic retails establishments around Orlando. This gives me a chance to display my message to thousands of people per week. The low cost and high effectiveness means I get more leads than I know what to do with...etc."
Hey...not bad. Actually pretty good.
Here's another idea - consider hiring a celebrity voice impersonator to leave the greeting for you. You could do the president or past presidents, a movie or TV star, a famous radio personality or a pop star.
The options are limitless. Something like this will ensure that your clients and prospects pay attention when they call you. It will increase the value of the experience you provide too.
Best of all, it's free!
If you're interested in the voice impersonator idea, shoot me an email and I can direct you to a guy who would be happy to do it for a song!
