Hi,

I watched your video about facebook spam...what about sharing a link and it showing up on all your friends homepage whenever you twitter or whatever?

Paul,

I believe what you are referring to is your Facebook feed. Your feed is a constantly updating flow of what all your friends are doing. So an update (link, message, tweet, whatever) that shows up in your feed is exactly how social media was designed to work. That's the beauty of it.

That's not spam… that's design. Also part of the design is the ability to reduce or hide a person's updates from your feed. And unfriending someone is also an option. You have total control and that not spam.

I'm also not saying you shouldn't send massages directly to people… you shouldn't send stupid messages that are non-relevant and promotion without giving value first!

If you were being tough-and-cheek about my twittering showing up on your feed and it being spammy… then I suggest you unfriend me. We write for our fans not for anyone else. I suggest you work to err on the side of over communicating with your customers and possible pushing those who aren't raving fans away. Everyone will be better off for it.

You'll have more loyal customers who love you and you'll spend more time with the ones who want love you and less with the ones who don't care. That's what ESP – Enjoyable, Simple and Prosperous business is all about.

Defy Gravity baby!

Jimmy

GREAT examples of what is spam and what isn't!!

People add just a link not only to emails--but also to places such as blog posts or Twitter bios.

I find them annoying. I want to see a short explanation of why I should take my time to go there!
